FAREWELL EDISON PARK FEST 2014

 

Edison Park Fest 2014 has come to an end.  Our neighborhood fundraiser continues to grow due to the amazing support of our community!  As the Fest continues to grow, changes are needed.  This year, we relocated the food vendors to the west of the train station creating more space for our attendees.  We also asked for a suggested donation of $5 and the support was more than we expected!  The operation costs associated with producing a Fest this large are very high.   From security, clean-up, equipment rental, electric, live music, and children’s performers, it was essential for us to ask for a donation to help offset these costs as well as continue to offer free community events throughout the year, beautification projects, and the day to day costs of operating the Edison Park Chamber of Commerce.  But most importantly, your donation will help continue Edison Park Fest! 

Edison Park Fest would not be possible without our Edison Park Chamber of Commerce members and the Officers and Board of Directors.  Special thanks to Jill Doherty (President), George McCarthy (Vice-President), Lawrence Barbi (Treasurer), Kathleen Kreher (Secretary) and our Directors: Steve Ek, Dennis Gancarz, Lewis Luburich, Anthony Mullarkey, Alex Mrowiec, Ashley Neri, Brian Schoen, Kevin Shirley, and Jamie Suckow.  A very special thanks to our Director and Emcee of Edison Park Fest, Tony Valle.  Tony and volunteer, Bill Greco, are at the Fest from open to close every day making sure our Main Stage is running perfectly.

It is amazing how our community comes together to support Edison Park Fest.  Thank you to the Theater Departments of Resurrection High School College Prep and St. Patrick High School for donating your time to run the family stage!  Thank you to Sherry Villari of Public Safety Solutions and her EMT staff for organizing and running our First Aid Tent.  Thank you to Notre Dame College Prep for running the free basketball camp.  Thank you to Bobby Bartlett for running our Bags Tournament.    The volunteers who show up every year for set-up such as Sean McReady and Tracy McIntyre and then we had the countless volunteers who sell tickets!  We had veterans such as Una Durkan, Jean Staunton, Pete Zimmerman, Jackie Foucre, Katie Hickey, Meghan and Erin Quane, Nina Owens, Gwenn Fiorenzo, Starr Robinson, Jo Cohen, John and Margaret Mulroe, Tara Murphy, and Adrienne Cirrincione.  And to our new volunteers:  THANK YOU!  We hope you return next year.

We are also fortunate to work with some amazing companies such as WR Event Services, KLA Productions, LepreCan Portable Restrooms Geary Electric, and AAA Rental.  Thanks to IFPC Worldwide and Head of Security Brian Tedeschi for keeping our Fest safe and secure.    Thank you to Alderman Mary O’Connor and  Nick Haak of Alderman Mary O’Connor’s office for your support throughout the planning process of Edison Park Fest.

And of course thank you to our attendees and those who live near our Fest grounds, we appreciate your patience during this weekend!

I personally am extremely grateful to have an amazing assistance, Katie Rottman.  She continuously impresses me with her strong work ethic and dedication to Edison Park.
