The Edison Park Community Council is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 College Scholarship: Giuliana Kure, Ellen Mateling and MaryLee Gibson.
This year’s scholarship applicants wrote a 500-word essay on the topic: “How Have You Given Back?” Celebrating giving to the community, the insights the applicants shared exhibited a generosity of spirit, wisdom, commitment, and joy at participating in something bigger than themselves. The Edison Park Community Council gives scholarships to deserving Edison Park high school senior or freshmen in college. Awarded funds may be used to assist with student expenses such as tuition, fees, books or room and board.
Prior to making final selections, a committee comprised of officers and directors of the Edison Park Community Council reviewed all applications submitted and ranked the entries. The scholarship is funded by various activities of the Edison Park Community Council like the early Summer Pub Crawl and the Fall Football Party. The Edison Park Community Council’s mission is to devote itself to the civic and social welfare of the community. We welcome any suggestions to improve Edison Park.
